About Us
Black Sheep Needlepoint is a full-service needlepoint shop and creative studio at 100 Water Street, in the heart of Williamstown, Massachusetts. Whether you've been stitching for fifty years or you're picking up a needle for the very first time, you'll find what you need here — and a community that genuinely loves this craft.
Why the Black Sheep?
Every flock has one: the one who does things a little differently, follows their own thread, and is usually having the most fun. That's the spirit of this shop. We carry classic, beautiful canvases — and also the cheeky, the literary, the unexpected. We believe needlepoint belongs to everyone, and that the best stitch is the one that makes you smile.
Our Story
Black Sheep Needlepoint is family-built — founded by Liz and Sam and opened on Water Street to bring beautifully curated canvases, quality threads, and honest, expert guidance to stitchers across the Berkshires and beyond. What started as a shared love of making things by hand has grown into a shop where creativity and community go hand in hand.
What We Believe
Needlepoint is more than a hobby. It's a creative outlet, a meditative practice, and a way to make heirlooms with your own hands — gifts that outlast trends and get passed down. Our job is to make that easy and joyful: a carefully curated wall of canvases from designers we love, threads worth touching, and the warmest possible welcome every single time you walk through the door.
More Than a Shop
We pull threads (free with any canvas), track down special orders from any designer, teach beginners, and host stitch nights where the kettle is always on. If it involves a needle and canvas, we're your people.
